Coal from Guaíba, Latin America’s largest open-pit mine, will stay in the ground
166 million tons of coal and 4.5 gigatons of CO₂ will stay in the ground. This is the fruit of a partnership between climate justice groups, a local Indigenous association, 350.org Brazil, Arayara Institute and the Coal Observatory.
